Biography
Michael Jones was born in Brooksburn, near Edinburgh , Scotland . He began his studies at a Catholic school in the neighboring town of Bathgate, but at the age of 15 he interrupted his education without receiving a certificate. [1] Education continued at the National Film and Television School in London . Already in the process of training, he was noticed by BBC producers and was appointed the second director of the three-part thriller “Brond”.
The directorial debut of Michael Jones took place in 1989. The film "Scandal" was based on real events and talked about the revealed sexual intrigue of the Minister of Defense of Great Britain, John Profumo. The frank film was met extremely negatively, and Michael Jones chose to leave for the United States. [2] After arriving in Hollywood , a period of searching follows. In 1990, Michael Jones directed the military drama Beauty Memphis ( English Memphis Belle ) about American pilots in World War II , and in 1991 a completely different mood film, the light comedy Doctor Hollywood . Subsequent films by Michael Keyton-Jones relate to the most diverse areas of modern cinema: the psychological drama "The Life of this guy " (1993), the historical saga " Rob Roy " (1995), the action-packed picture "The Jackal " (1997).
Michael Keyton-Jones was unable to become a commercially successful director. The most anticipated and advertised of his films, “ Basic Instinct 2 ” with a budget of US $ 70 million, collected only a little more than half of this amount at the box office [3] . Moreover, this film was presented in seven nominations for the Golden Raspberry Award and received 4 of them (worst film, worst sequel, worst script, worst actress Sharon Stone ) [4] .
After that, Keyton-Jones was no longer offered serious budgets. In 2012, the director directed the television historical mini-series “A World Without End ” about 14th-century England.
