The tournament was part of the World Series of snooker and was not included in the calendar of the main tour . It was attended by 16 players, of which several were local lovers, the rest were professionals. The games began with the 1/8 finals (knock-out format). All matches were held at Haidian Stadium, Beijing .
Rum Surin , a snooker player from Thailand , became the only Asian player to defeat his opponent. In the first round, he beat Neal Foods .
