The first Russian ophthalmological journal, was founded in 1884 by a professor at the University of St. Vladimir A. Khodin and the first 20 years left in Kiev under his editorship. In 1904, in connection with Hodin's disease, the editorial staff was transferred to Moscow. In 1904-1908, the editor of the journal was Professor A. A. Kryukov of Moscow University.
