Biography
Born March 28, 1925 in the village of Staroselye (now the village of Mamaivtsi, Kitsmansky district, Chernivtsi region of Ukraine ) in a family of peasants.
During the war - in evacuation, since 1944 he worked as a steelworker in the city of Nizhnyaya Salda, Sverdlovsk Region .
Since 1945 - artist of the Chernivtsi Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater (since 1954 - named after O. Yu. Kobylyanskaya ).
He graduated from the Kiev College of Music (now Gliere Kiev Institute of Music ), in 1951 - the vocal faculty of the Kiev Conservatory. P. Tchaikovsky (now the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P.I. Tchaikovsky ) (class I.S.Patorzhinsky ), in 1975 - the faculty of musical directing of the Kiev Institute of Theater Arts named after I. Karpenko-Kary (now the Kiev National University of Theater, Cinema and Television named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary ) (course by V. Nelly).
Since 1951 - soloist of the Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. T. Shevchenko . In 1979-1980 - director, in 1980-1988 - director, in 1988-2011 - artistic director and chief director (over 20 productions), since 2011 - theater director [3] . He staged performances in the opera studio of the Kiev Conservatory and the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theater. A. Solovyanenko .
Since 1985 - also a director of the Kiev Children's Musical Theater (since 2005 - the Kiev Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theater for Children and Youth ) [4] .
He has toured the cities of the USSR and abroad: Egypt , Italy , Spain , France , Australia , Canada , China , Mali , Nigeria , Guinea , Ghana , New Zealand , USA , Iceland , Japan , Norway , Hungary , Portugal , Germany , Denmark , India and etc.
He performed as a concert singer. In his repertoire there were over 200 works of national and world classics, folk songs and romances.
Starred in the movie.
In 1983-1990 - Head of the Department of Opera Training at the Kiev Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky (since 1985 - associate professor, since 1987 - professor).
He died on April 29, 2016 in Kiev at the 92nd year of his life. He was buried at the Bike cemetery .

- Mother - Maria Ivanovna (1898-1962) - collective farmer.
- The elder brother is Ivan. Until 1940 he studied at the Higher Marine School in Constanta (Romania) [5] .
- Wife - Galina Makarovna Gnatyuk (1927–2016) - linguist, lexicographer, historian of the Ukrainian language, doctor of philological sciences (1984), worked at the A. A. Potebni Institute of Linguistics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine [6] .
- Son - Andrei - philologist, teaches French at the university.
