The siege of Gibraltar in 1727 took place as part of the Anglo-Spanish War from February 11 to June 12. The Spaniards besieged the British garrison. According to various sources, the Spanish troops totaled from 12 thousand to 25 thousand people. The number of Gibraltar defenders at the beginning of the siege was 1,500, but increased after some time to 5,000. After a five-month siege and numerous assault attempts, the Spaniards retreated.
