Biography
During the reign of his father, al-Munzir commanded Arab forces against the Christian states of northern Spain and the renegade rebels Banu Qashi .
In 865, he conducted a not entirely successful campaign against the king of Asturias, Ordogno I, in the valley of the Duero River. He later tried to completely conquer Asturias, but was defeated in 878 under Waldemore from King Alfonso III .
Al-Munzir also made a military expedition in 883 against the renegade Visigoth family of Banu Qashi, who created an independent state in Southern Aragon , a union of Asturias, but was also defeated. However, the following year he was able to expel the rebel emir ibn Marwan from Badajoz .
In 886 , after the death of his father, al-Munzir became the emir of Cordoba. During the two years of his reign, he continued the struggle with the rebels of Umar ibn Hafsun , which began in the last years of the reign of Muhammad I.
Al-Munzir died in 888 in Babastro , in all likelihood, he was killed by his brother Abdallah , who became emir after his death.
