Dharmast (x) ala ( Eng. Dharmasthala , Cann . ಧರ್ಮಸ್ಥಳ ) is a temple town on the banks of the Netravati River in Taluk Beltangada of Dakshin-Kannada County in Karnataka [1] . It is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Jains - an average of about 10,000 pilgrims visit a city per day. Here is the Manjunatha temple - the Shiva temple, in which believers worship the golden lingam . A distinctive feature of this temple is that it is led by a council consisting of Jains, and worship is carried out by Vaishnava pujari from Madhva-sampradaya . The largest temple festival is Lakshadipa - annually held in November-December, the festival of lights [2] . There is a mechanized kitchen at the temple, providing thousands of pilgrims with free food.
