Biography
Born in 1962 in Leningrad . He graduated from Leningrad school number 1, where, together with Mikhail Borzykin (later the leader of the rock group "Television" ), he created a school ensemble.
In 1979 he entered the LGITMiK , on the course of Arkady Katzman and Lev Dodin , where he met with Maxim Leonidov and Nikolai Fomenko .
He took part in the cult performance “Ah, these stars!”, Where he played the roles of Demis Russos and Andrei Makarevich . In 1982, together with Leonidov and Fomenko, he created the Beat Quartet “ Secret ”, but left the group even before its “take-off”, giving way to Andrei Zabludovsky . However, the songs, verses to which Rubin wrote - such as "Hello", "Alice", "Christina's Name Day", "Old Cowboy" and many others remain in the group's repertoire.
Having left “The Secret” in 1983 (having transferred to “ Integral ” to Bari Alibasov for a while) [1] , Rubin rejected the offer to work in the theater and continued writing. In the same year he graduated from LGITMiK .
Among the co-authors of Dmitry Rubin are Maxim Leonidov, Andrey Ivanov , Igor Kornelyuk , Bari Alibasov and others. Songs to Rubin’s verses were performed by Alla Pugacheva , Tatyana Bulanova , Mikhail Boyarsky , Maxim Leonidov , Sergey Rogozhin , Na-Na , Integral , Cafe , Hummingbird and many other artists. In total, Rubin is the author or co-author of more than 300 songs. [2]
The author of the poems of the musical "Canterville Ghost" [3] (based on the novel of the same name ).
In addition, Rubin performed solo, and in 2007 created his own musical group.
In addition to music, he worked as a screenwriter, collaborated with a number of Russian film studios. He wrote the scripts for the series “ Streets of Broken Lights ”, “ Dutch Passage ”, “ Sea Devils ”, “Fatal Similarity”, “ Road Patrol ” [2] .
He died of liver cancer on July 5, 2017 [4] [5] . He was buried at the Jewish cemetery in St. Petersburg.
