Kedarnath Mandir ( English Kedarnath Mandir , Hindi केदारनाथ मंदिर ) - one of the most important and most sacred Hindu temples of Shiva . Located in the Himalayas , in the village of Kedarnath of the Indian state of Uttarakhand . Due to severe weather conditions, the temple is open only from late April to early November. Here Shiva is worshiped as Kedarnath, “Lord Kedarkhand” (Kedarkhand is the historical name of the region).

The road to the temple does not exist and the pilgrims go to it on foot 14 kilometers from Gaurikund . It is believed that the temple was built by a medieval Hindu saint and philosopher Shankara . [1] Kedarnath Temple is one of the twelve in which the self-manifest miraculous lingams are located - jyotirlingams . The existence of the temple in this place is also mentioned in the Mahabharata , which states that the Pandavas satisfied Siva by performing austerities in Kedarnath. Kedarnath Temple is one of the Char Dhamas - the four main pilgrimage sites in the Himalayas.
