Biography

Born on August 15, 1911 in the village of Nizhnyaya Kukmar of the Khananur volost of the Urzhum district of the Vyatka province [1] in a peasant family. Mariets. After seven years he worked on the collective farm.

Drafted into the Red Army in December 1941 .

Member of the Great Patriotic War since January 1942 . In 1943 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses.

The platoon commander of the 1185th Infantry Regiment (356th Infantry Division, 61st Army, Central Front), junior lieutenant A. Gromov distinguished himself when crossing the Dnieper. September 28, 1943 in the area of. Novosyolki (Repkinsky district, Chernihiv region), a platoon under the command of Gromov was one of the first to reach the right bank, went to the Braginka River, crossed over it and joined the battle. When the company commander died, Gromov took command. The advancing company drove the enemy from the river. During the battle A. Gromov was seriously wounded, but continued to command the company.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, for the exemplary fulfillment of command assignments during the crossing of the Dnieper and the courage and heroism shown at the same time, junior lieutenant Gromov Alexei Nikolayevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union , with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal (No. 3586) [4] .

Commissioned in 1944. He returned to his native village, worked as the chairman of the collective farm, then - the village council.

He died on June 28, 1987 in the village of Sovetsky, Soviet district of the Mari ASSR.

He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Shaner, the Soviet district of the Mari ASSR.
