Johan Petter Arrhenius ( Swede. Johan Petter Arrhenius ) - Swedish botanist and agronomist [1] . The uncle of a chemist, Nobel laureate in chemistry in 1903, Svante Arrhenius [2] .

He was born on September 27, 1811 in Jereda (Len Kalmar ) [3] . From 1830 he studied at Uppsala , in 1840 he was appointed associate professor of botany, in 1848 - the head of the newly opened agronomic institute in Ulthun, near Uppsala. In 1850, he was elected professor, and in 1862 - secretary of the Agronomic Academy in Stockholm and held this post until 1881 (he also temporarily replaced the deceased successor in 1882-1883) [3] . Through his teaching and literary work he has provided innumerable services to the development of agriculture in Sweden. His textbooks are Lä robok i Botanik (5th ed., 1882), Handbok i Svenska jordbruket (4th ed., 1879) and Landbrukspraktika (3rd ed., 1876), as well as his Smärre samlade skrifter i landthushållningen ”(27 issues, 1858–1885) became widespread. Arrhenius took part in the political life of his country as a member of the upper house (1867-1872) [1] . He died in Stockholm on September 5, 1889. [3]
