Zhukaigou

Zhukaigou culture , Chinese 朱 開溝 文化 , Zhukaigou (2200-1500 BC) is an archaeological culture of the Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age that existed on the Ordos Plateau in the territory of the modern Chinese autonomous region of Inner Mongolia . A typical monument, Zhukaigou (Hoshun Ejin , aimak Alashan , Inner Mongolia ) was excavated in 1977-1984.

Archaeologists divide the development of this culture into five stages, corresponding to the late stage of Longshan culture , the early, middle and late stages of Erlitou culture and the early stage of Erligan culture . In the early stages, this culture was influenced by the Longshan culture , in the middle stages by the Qijia culture ; It was during this period that bronze artifacts began to appear in material culture. At the last stage of Zhukaigou culture, the previous practice of sacrificing sheep and pigs was gradually replaced by sacrificing dogs.
