Jonathan Lynn ( born Jonathan Lynn ; born April 3, 1943) is an English actor, comedian, film director and screenwriter.

Biography
Lynn was educated in Kingswood, the prestigious secondary school of Bath (1954-1961), after which he studied law at Pembroke College ( Cambridge ; his uncle Abba Even studied there). In his student years he played in the Cambridge amateur theater club â Footlights â.
In 1967 , in one of the West End theaters, he played a tailor named Motle in the musical â Violinist on the Roof â. Since the late 1960s, D. Lynn worked as a screenwriter for television comedies, co-authored with Terry Jones , Michael Paylin, and Tony Buffery .
He played medical student Danny Hooley in the second episode of the comedy television series Doctor at Home in 1970. He later acted as screenwriter for several seasons of the sequel to this series.
Niece of Israeli Foreign Minister Abba Even , cousin of writer and psychiatrist Oliver Saks .
