Education is carried out both in the state Dutch and in English at the most popular faculties . Utrecht University traditionally specializes in law , various humanities and social sciences. Recently, natural and biomedical sciences have been developed. The annual budget of the university in 2017 amounted to 810 million euros [1] .
Content
University History
It was founded on March 26, 1636 in the United Provinces . In 1817, received the status of a royal university, and since 1961 it has become a public university. The number of students is constantly growing: from 12.9 thousand students in the 1974/1975 academic year [2] to about 23 thousand students in the early 1990s, and up to 30 thousand according to the data for the 2015/2016 academic year , of which about 1.7 thousand are international students [3] .
