Cesar Villat ( fr. Césaire Villatte ; January 13, 1816 , Neustrelitz - June 12, 1895 , Neustrelitz ) is a German lexicographer of French origin.

He studied philology in Berlin , in 1838 - 1884 . taught French there. He gained fame mainly thanks to the Encyclopedic Franco-German and German-French Dictionary ( 1869 - 1880 ), compiled jointly with Karl Ernst August Sachs and published by Gustav Langenscheidt . In addition, he published the article “Parisisms” ( German: Parisismen ; 1884 ), which became very popular, in which the vocabulary of Parisian argo was first collected.
