Biography

Wojciech Chrzanowski began military service in 1810 in Warsaw artillery .

He participated in the Patriotic War of 1812 , in particular, in the Battle of Smolensk . He later fought in the battle of Leipzig . In January 1815 he entered the service of the Kingdom of Poland .

In 1828 - 1829, with the rank of captain of the Russian army, he took part in the Russian-Turkish war .

Since November 1830, Chrzanowski participated in the Polish uprising , was the military governor of Warsaw (1831). After the defeat of the uprising in late 1831 he emigrated to Paris .

In 1848, Karl Albert , king of Sardinia , chose Khrzanovsky as commander in chief of the Sardinian army. After the defeat of Sardinia in the battle of Novar, Chrzanovsky was fired from service by King Victor Emmanuel II .

Chshanovsky returned for permanent residence in Paris, where he continued his work on creating a detailed map of Polish lands, which he had been working on since 1822 . In 1859, this map was finally published in Paris.

Wojciech Chrzanowski died on February 26, 1861 and was buried in the Montmartre cemetery .
