Geography
The total area of borough is 64 107 km², of which 41 634 km² is land and 22 473 km² is open water [3] . It occupies the Kenai Peninsula , some surrounding territories and islands, for example, the Yukon Island . The largest conservation area of borough Kenai is the eponymous reserve with an area of 7770 km².
Population
According to the 2000 census [4] , the borough population is 49,700. The population density is 1.19 people / km². 1.92% of the population speaks Russian at home and 1.74% speak Spanish [5] .
Of the 18,400 households, 38% have children under the age of 18, 55% are married couples living together, 9% are women living without husbands, and 31% do not have a family. 25% of all households are made up of separate residents, and 5% of households are single people aged 65 and over. The average household size was 2.6, and the average family size was 3.2.
The zone is home to 30% of the population under the age of 18; 7% from 18 to 24 years old; 30% from 25 to 44 years old; 26% are between 45 and 64 years old and 7% are aged 65 or over. The average age of the population is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 109 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 110 males.
