From the Bulgarian family. Developed the theory and practice of "lysatherapy" as a technique for rejuvenating the body. Treated high-ranking party and Soviet workers.
Arrested on December 14, 1937 on charges of participating in a counter-revolutionary anti-Soviet organization. March 13, 1938 during the process of the anti-Soviet "right-Trotsky bloc" ( Third Moscow trial ) was sentenced to capital punishment and March 15 was shot and buried at the Kommunarka testing ground (Moscow region). Rehabilitated February 4, 1988 .
Kazakov and two other medical defendants, Lev Levin and Dmitry Pletnev , were charged with the killing of OGPU chairman Vyacheslav Menzhinsky , chairman of the Supreme Council of National Economy Valerian Kuybyshev and writer Maxim Gorky by order of Heinrich Yagoda .
From the memoirs of the wife of Gronsky : “Kazakov was arrested. Ivan had a major conversation with Stalin about the release of Ignatiy Nikolayevich. Ivan spoke sharply with Stalin. He called Molotov , Mikoyan , and Kalinin - he did not achieve the result. Kazakov was given twenty years of imprisonment ” [1] .
