Biography
Born June 8, 1947 in Ames, Iowa. She grew up in Kansas, where she studied at the University of Kansas , receiving a degree in political science. She also studied in Chicago , receiving the title of Doctor of Historical Sciences and later a Master of Finance. After university, she worked as a manager in an insurance company. Her husband is a professor of physics at the University of Chicago .
The beginning of literary activity was not successful. Released in 1982, the first novel, “Indemnity only,” sold over several thousand, mainly in libraries. The success was caused by the serial heroine of the writer - a private detective, the daughter of an immigrant from Italy and a descendant of immigrants from Poland, Victoria Ifigenia (V.Y.) Warshawski (VI Warshawski).
Sarah Parecki was one of the founders of Sisters in Crime. In 1986, she was elected the first president of the organization.
Rewards
Her work was awarded Mark Twain Awards, the Silver Dagger Award, and the Cartier Diamond Dagger .
