Biography
Victor Korshunov was born on November 24, 1929 in Moscow , on Sukharevka.
He studied at Moscow secondary school No. 234 [3] [4] .
In 1943 he began to study in a drama studio at the regional House of Pioneers . The studio was led by actress V.I. Struchkova . Led by the head of the studio and together with other participants, the drama club traveled a lot to hospitals and hospitals. He performed with concerts and performances in front of wounded soldiers, and after performances he helped nurses and nannies look after the sick. So, according to him, from childhood he joined the school of humanism and the "science of human science" [3] [4] [5] .
In 1951 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio (course of A. M. Karev ) [5] [6] . Acting skills were taught by G. A. Gerasimov , S. K. Blinnikov , A. A. Scriabin, and the history of art theater was taught by V. Ya. Vilenkin [4] .
The actor’s debut took place on the stage of the Central Transport Theater (now the Gogol Center ), where he played the roles of Fernando de Rivera in the play “Living Portrait” based on the play by A. Moreto and Vaska Okoroka in the play “ Armored Train 14-69 ” based on the play by Vs. V. Ivanova . The last performance was a great spectator success and was nominated for the Stalin Prize . Among those who watched this production were then the director of the Maly Theater, chief director K. A. Zubov and director M. I. Tsarev , who became interested in playing the young artist and invited him to the troupe of their theater [2] .
From 1952 to 2015 - an actor of the Maly Theater , having served in it for more than sixty years. From January 1985 to May 1998 he served as director of the Maly Theater , and from May 1998 to September 2009 he was general director .
As a director, he staged several performances in this theater.
Since 1954 he taught at the Higher Theater School named after M. S. Shchepkin (since 1966 - associate professor, since 1973 - professor) [7] . Over the years of teaching, he has released seventeen acting courses. Among his students: S. Lyubshin , E. Martsevich , S. Nemolyaev , N. Kornienko , V. Bochkarev , A. Domogarov , M. Basharov and many other actors [4] [8] .
In the Soviet years he was elected a member of the board, deputy chairman of the Council for Work with Youth under the Presidium of the All-Russian Theater Society (now the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation ) [9] .
Member of the CPSU since 1959.
Died April 17, 2015 in Moscow at the 86th year of life after a long illness [1] [2] [10] . The funeral service and farewell took place on April 21, 2015 in the building of the Maly Theater on Bolshaya Ordynka Street [8] [11] . He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery [12] , next to the grave of his wife Catherine of Elana .
