Creation History
For the first time, Loki's character appeared in the comic strip Venus # 6 (August, 1949), where he was inaccurately presented as the Olympic god exiled to Tartarus . His first official appearance was in the comic strip Journey into Mystery # 85 (October 1962), where it was reintroduced by brothers Stan Lee and Larry Lieber and remade by Jack Kirby. Loki also appeared in various issues of the comic books Journey into Mystery, Thor, The Avengers, and several other series.
As a result, Marvel publishing house found the character popular enough to allow Robert Rody to continue creating the Loki # 1-4 mini-series (July 2004 - October 2004), which provides an opportunity to take a different look at the hero. The features of the mini-series were the covers and interior pages of the comics created by the artist Esad Ribik.
Biography
Origin
After the ice giants were defeated, Odin discovered a half-blood child in the citadel (his mother was an aces, his father was the lord of the Jotuns Lafey ; in accordance with the Scandinavian rules for the formation of patronymic names, his full name is Loki Lafeyson). Lafey hid him from his subjects because of the small growth for the ice giant. One could not kill an innocent child; he took the boy to Asgard and raised him as his own son, along with his own heir - Thor.
Growing up
Throughout his childhood and youth, Loki suffered humiliation due to differences between himself and Thor. The inhabitants of Asgard primarily appreciated physical strength, perseverance and courage in battles, but in this Loki could not compete with Thor. However, Loki's vocation lay in other areas. He possessed great abilities for witchcraft , the ability to command magical powers, and somehow wanted to become the most powerful god in all Asgard and crush the Torah. Because of his talent for harm, he became known as the God of Lies and Harm. However, instead of making safe jokes, he became more and more malicious in his actions, and his desire for power and revenge was obvious to everyone around him. Several times he tried to use tricks to get rid of Thor. His nickname changed from Trickster to the God of Evil. Over the centuries, Loki tried many times to seize power over Asgard and kill Thor. He even helped storm giant Ghana escape from Thor, and supported other Asgard enemies. One, who had long condoned Loki's attempts, magically imprisoned him within a magical ash tree until someone shed tears over him. Loki ultimately subjugated the tree to his will, forced him to drop a leaf in Heimdal’s eye, which caused him to drop a tear and, without knowing it, set Loki free. After that, his thirst for power and desire for revenge only increased. Loki collected an extensive dossier in Asgard, and often referred to him. After meeting with the wizard Eldrad, he improved his skills in black magic. Loki later repaid Eldrad, giving him to the torn demon of the fire demon Surtur.
Battles with the heroes of the Earth
Loki's plans often related to the Earth , which is why the heroes of the planet fought with him to protect both Earth and Asgard . At first he fought against Thor in modern times after his escape from a tree [3] . Then Loki ruled the Hulk using an illusion, while simultaneously in an astral form trying to seduce Thor with the idea of returning to Asgard. But this led to the formation of the Avengers , as some heroes arrived to meet the Hulk [4] .
Thor became one of the founders of this team. Several times, Loki, without directly fighting him, created threats for him. So he increased the mental abilities of the fortune teller Sandu, making her able to raise buildings with the power of his mind [5] , freed Mr. Hyde and Cobra, strengthening them, but they were all defeated. Among the best servants of Loki was the criminal Karl Creel, whom he transformed into a supervillain, known as the Devourer [6] , who became a serious opponent of Thor over the years.
Loki tried to turn Odin against Thor and steal Thor's enchanted hammer, Mjolnir , but his efforts fell to dust. Then he persuaded Odin to go to Earth and leave him responsible for Asgard with part of the army. After that, he released the storm giant Skagg and the fiery demon Surtur to kill Odin. However, Thor and Balder helped him defeat the monsters, and Loki was sent to serve the dwarves. Loki was responsible for awakening the Destroyer, leading the Hunter to the Temple where the Destroyer's armor was located, while the nearby Thor made Hunter's soul revive the armor. But Thor forced Hunter to return to his body, burying his armor under the rocks [7] . Later, Loki tried to use the Absorber to defeat Odin and capture Asgard, as a result of which both were sent into space.
Strengths and Abilities
Loki is Jotun from Jotunheim in origin, although he does not have the usual growth for them. He possesses unique physical skills: a huge force inherited from his ancestors, superhuman endurance, immunity to all known diseases and poisons.
Loki owns the art of black magic, which allows him to create areas of power that temporarily increase his own physical power, give superhuman abilities to living creatures or inanimate objects, have the ability to fly, hypnosis, create illusions and teleportation.
He also has the ability to change his appearance to beast (moose, wolf, fox) and human. In addition to his knowledge of magic, Loki has a well-developed mind. However, his hatred of Thor, the thirst for power and unprincipled methods impede the implementation of his cunning and sophisticated plans. He is an experienced manipulator and schemer.
