Biography
Dominic Savio was born April 2, 1842 in a large peasant family. In February 1853, Dominic Savio's parents moved to the city of Mondonio. On October 2, 1854, at the age of 12, Dominic Savio met the priest John Bosco , who founded the monastic congregation , which was engaged in the education of adolescents. John Bosco became the confessor of Dominique Savio, who was distinguished among the teenagers who visited the Salesian oratorio by his special piety. In 1856, Dominic Savio founded a partnership with several teenagers dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary , whose members took upon themselves the duty to deepen their spiritual life and help those in need in a special way.
At the beginning of 1857, Dominic Savio fell ill with pneumonia and died of the disease on March 9, 1857.
Praise
Dominic Savio was beatified by Pope Pius XII in 1950 and canonized by him on June 12, 1954. Currently, his relics are stored in the Turin Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary - an assistant to Christians.
Dominic Savio is revered in the Catholic Church as the patron saint of ministers , the intercessor of pregnant women.
