Biography
From the hereditary nobles of the Tula province. The son of army captain Vladimir Gurovich Chesnokov and his wife Alexandra Alekseevna. The younger brother Nicholas is also the St. George Knight, Major General.
He graduated from the Polotsk Cadet Corps (1893) and the Konstantinovsky Artillery School (1895), from where he was released as second lieutenant to the 27th Artillery Brigade .
