Altai onion , or Stone onion [2] , Sagono ( lat. Allium altaicum ) is a perennial herbaceous plant, a species of the genus Onion ( Allium ) of the Onion family ( Alliaceae ).

Content
Distribution and Ecology
This species grows in the Altai Territory , Tuva and Buryatia , the Irkutsk Region and the Trans-Baikal Territory . Also found in eastern Kazakhstan , in Mongolia and China [4] .
It grows on rocky outcrops, rocks , in crevices, on substrates rich in calcium . It occurs sporadically, in populations it is not plentiful or grows sporadically.
Botanical Description
Altai onion is a perennial herbaceous bulbous plant. It is similar to a batun . Bulbs are oblong-ovate, with a diameter of 3-4 centimeters, membranes are reddish-brown and thin-skinned, sitting on an oblique rhizome . The stem is 25–80 cm high, powerful, arched, swollen in the middle, one-third of the height dressed in smooth sheaths of leaves.
Leaves , including two or four, shorter than the stem, fistulose, pointed at the apex.
The case is shortly pointed. The umbrella is spherical, multi-flowered, capitate. Perianth 6-8 mm long, yellowish, shiny, pointed. The stamen filaments are almost twice as long as the perianth, at the base between each other and with the perianth are fused, whole, almost equal, awl-shaped. The column is issued from the perianth.
The box is one and a half times shorter than the perianth.
It blooms in June - July (in the second year), bears fruit in July - August .
Pollinated by insects. Reproduction - seed and vegetative . Gives self-seeding.
