The Great Blue Winterfin [1] ( Latin: Alcedo hercules ) is an Asian bird of the family of Kingfishers .

Description
The 22 cm long blue kingfisher is the largest member of the genus Alcedo . He looks like a kingfisher . Both species can be easily distinguished by size. The large blue kingfisher has a black beak, a blue head, the upper side of the wings is dark blue, the throat is white, the chest, the belly and the lower side of the wings are reddish in color.
Spread
The Great Blue Kingfisher lives on the rivers more often than the overlying wet jungle (height from 625 to 1 000 m) in Southeast Asia. The area of distribution extends from Sikkim in the Himalayas all the way to Hainan Island in southeastern China.
Behavior
Bird hunts from ambush. It feeds on small fish and insects.
