Diocese of the Holy Trinity in Alma-Ata ( Latin: Dioecesis Sanctissimae Trinitatis in Almata ) is a Roman Catholic diocese with a center ( department ) in Alma-Ata ( Kazakhstan ). Subordinate to the Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary . The territory of the diocese covers Kyzylorda , South Kazakhstan , Zhambyl , Almaty region and Almaty. The cathedral of the diocese is the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Alma-Ata

Content
History
On July 7, 1999, an apostolic administration was formed with a center in Alma-Ata , subordinate to the Karaganda diocese . On May 17, 2003, the Alma-Ata Apostolic Administration was elevated to the rank of diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of the Blessed Virgin Mary with its center in Astana.
The first bishop was Heinrich Theophilos Hovanets OFM Since March 5, 2011, Bishop Jose Luis Mumbiela Sierra has been heading the diocese. Vicar General - Jan Bogumil Bednarsky OFM
Statistics
According to the data for 2014, the diocese has 8 parishes , 6 diocesan (i.e. non-religious) and 6 monastic priests (the total number of monks is 7, nuns - 14). The total number of Catholics is estimated at 50,000 [1]
The Kazakh branch of the personal prelature of Opus Dei and the inter-diocesan church court are located in the diocese of the Holy Trinity. Among the monastic priests are representatives of the Franciscans and the institution of the embodied word [Instituto del Verbo Encarnado, IVE].
