Nikolskaya street - a street in Peterhof . Passes from Borodachev street to Zverinskaya street . It was founded in 1772 . The street was laid in the second half of the 1830s and was named Nikolskaya in honor of the son of Emperor Nicholas I, Grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich . From the 1920s until 1993 it was called International Street.

Nikolai Nikolayevich (Senior) - (1831-1891), the Grand Duke, the third son of Emperor Nicholas I. He studied in the 1st Cadet Corps, for several years he studied military formation in the summer cadet camps in Peterhof. In 1852, Nikolai Nikolayevich was promoted to major general with admission to the retinue of His Imperial Majesty with the appointment of an inspector general in engineering. During the Crimean War he took part in the Inkerman battle, was in charge of all engineering work on the North side of Sevastopol. In 1855, the Grand Duke was appointed a member of the Council of State, and in 1861 he was appointed commander of a separate Guard Corps, in 1864 he became commander of the troops of the Guard and the St. Petersburg Military District and at the same time inspector general of cavalry. During the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878, Nikolai Nikolaevich was commander in chief of the Danube Army. Since 1878, Field Marshal. He died in Crimea, buried in the Peter and Paul Cathedral.
