Born in Bonham , Texas , raised in Oklahoma City . At that time, the city became one of the music centers of the Southwestern United States. He grew up in an atmosphere full of blues . After only 26 years, he left behind a significant legacy of jazz guitar.
Christian is an important early electric guitar player. He was recognized as one of the key figures in the development of bi-bop and cool jazz . He introduced an electric ukulele into small jazz bands (combos). Died of tuberculosis. Christian influence has transcended jazz and swing. In 1990, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
