Schaub was born in Munich, Bavaria , graduated from secondary school and college of pharmacists in Munich. From 1917 to 1920 he was a soldier.

Schaub met Hitler in Munich in 1919, when both lived in the same barracks. October 10, 1920 Schaub joined the Nazi Party (ticket number 81). Schaub took part in the beer putsch on November 8-9, 1923 in Munich, for participation in which in May 1924 he was sentenced to one year and three months in prison. Schaub was a member of the Reichstag from 1936 to 1945.

At the end of 1940, he became A. Hitler's aide-de-camp, replacing Wilhelm Bruckner in this post.

At the end of April 1945, Hitler ordered Schaub to burn all his personal belongings and documents in his apartment in Munich and Obersalzberg , which Schaub did.

After the surrender of Germany in May 1945, Schaub was arrested near Berchtesgaden by American troops and stayed in various internment camps until 1949. During the denazification process, Schaub was not charged with crimes during the period from 1933 to 1945, but was classified as a “travel companion”. [four]
