Tunguda ( Karelia . Tungut, Tunguo, Tunkuo , Fin. Tunkua ) is an old village in the Sosnowiec rural settlement of the Belomorsk region of the Republic of Karelia , a former administrative center of the village council and parish.

Located in White Sea Karelia, northeast of Lake Tungud, on the Tunguda River, five kilometers west of New Mashezer .

In the early 1900s, the population of Tunguda numbered 350 people.

History
For the first time, the Tongu volost was mentioned in the “Book of collection of data and custodial money from the population of Lopa Pogost ” in 1578.
- Tungud village council
The former Tungud village council was located in the western part of the White Sea region and consisted of most of the former Tungud volost and the southern part of Maslozerskaya . Tungudsky village council bordered on entering now in Kalevala region , Borovsky township and Yushkozerskaya village council in the west, with Panozero rural and Krivoporozhsky village council Kem region in the north, with Shueretskaya , Lehtinskim rural and Letnerechenskim village council in the east, with Chernoporozhskim village council Segezha region and Rugozersky village council of the Muezersky district in the south. In 1987, the population of the village council was about 1000 people. The structure of the Tungud village council included: Kevyatozero , Mashezero , Novoye Mashezero , Tunguda, Ushkovo . Now it is part of the Sosnowiec rural settlement .
- Tungud parish
Tungud parish was part of Kem district. In the north, the parish bordered Maslozerskoy volost, in the east with Shuezerskaya , in the south with Rugozerskaya, and in the west with Yushkozerskaya. The parish consisted of 26 settlements, among which: Tunguda, Mashesero , Koivuniemi, Kompakka, Kompakka, Syväjärvi, Kuikkavaara, Lusmanvaara, Yemosenvaara, Jeeravaara, Ieikoavaara, Likmanavaara, Lusmanvaara, Jemosenvaara, Ieravi, Jeehomavaara, Ieravi, ikгуkavaara, Lusmanvaara; Warriors ( Voinki ) and Viikatejärvi ( Viikatejärvi ). In 1907, the population of the parish was 2886 people. The volost was abolished in the 1920s , and its territory, together with the territories of the Shuezerskaya and Maslozersky volosts, was united into the Tungudsky District . In the 1950s - 60s most of the settlements of the former volost were declared “unpromising” and the population was resettled to other settlements. To date, of all the settlements of the Tungud volost, there are residential areas - Tunguda, Kevyatozero and Mashezero . The overwhelming majority of the inhabitants of the villages settled in 1958 live in New Mashezer .
Attractions
In the village on the shore of the lake is a monument of architecture - the wooden chapel of the Holy Trinity and the Virgin Mary, built in the late XIX - early XX centuries [4] .
In 2007, the Tungudsk Folk House named after Gennady Ivanovich Guzhiev (Tunguon kyläntalo), a teacher at Mashozerskaya Secondary School , was born in the village of Berezovo (formerly Tungud District). The People’s House has a large collection of documents, photographs and household items of local residents.
