Originally from South Africa . Life form - one-, two- or perennial grass with erect or creeping shoots.
The leaves of the lampranthus are rather long, juicy, trihedral, cylindrical, smooth, bluish-green or light green, often fused at the base.
The height of the bush is 15-40 centimeters.
The flowers are silky, large, short-stemmed.
Lampranthus conspicuum has triangular, keeled leaves with a pinkish top. Blooms purple-red flowers.
Lampranthus orange ( Lampranthus auratiacus ) is a bushy plant about 15 cm tall. The shoots of young plants are erect, then they wilt and spread along the ground. Fleshy leaves are trihedral in shape. Flowers on long pedicels of red, lilac or pink color, with a diameter of 4 - 5 cm. The fruit is a box.
The adorable Lampranthus ( Lampranthus amoenus ) has dull, opposite leaves and shiny large flowers.
