Hidir Hasan oglu Mustafayev ( azerb. Xıdır Həsən oğlu Mustafayev ; March 27, 1905 - May 21, 1975 ) - Hero of the Soviet Union , commander of a motorized rifle battalion of the 91st separate Fastovskoy brigade of the 3rd Guards Tank Army of 1- th Ukrainian front, colonel.

Biography
Hidir Mustafayev was born on March 27, 1905 in the village of Gezaldar of the Erivan province (now in the Lori region , Armenia ) into a peasant family. By nationality - Azerbaijani . Since childhood, Mustafaev worked with his father on earth, having matured, he went to copper mines. In his memoirs, Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Yakubovsky writes:
| Life is not easy, taught a lot. He was born in 1905, grew up in a family with eight children. He was brought up without a father, imprisoned for participating in the revolutionary movement. At seventeen he went to educational program [1] . |
In 1927, Khidir was drafted into the Red Army . In 1930, Mustafayev became a member of the CPSU (b) . In the same year, he graduated from advanced training courses for command personnel, then served as platoon and company commander , and also worked as a military teacher.
World War II
In September 1942, Khydir Mustafayev went to the front. He took part in the battle of Stalingrad . In January 1943, Mustafayev was seriously wounded in the chest, however, he continued to fight until he was exhausted from the loss of blood. For the battles near Stalingrad he was awarded the Order of the Red Star, and he received the award six months later in the Kremlin from the hands of M. I. Kalinin [2] . Having discharged from the hospital, Khidir returned to the front and took part in the battles on the Kursk Bulge . For the battles near Orel , Hidir Mustafayev was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree.
He participated in the battles near Kiev , Zhytomyr , Kazatin , Berdichev , Proskurov , Ternopol [3] . On the night of November 5-6, 1943, Khydir Mustafayev was appointed commander of the shock tank battalion by order of the commander of the 3rd Guards Tank Army [3] . The command set the task to go behind the Nazis and take the city of Fastov . The 344th tank battalion of Captain Lusta and the motorized rifle battalion of Major Khidir Mustafayev with a company of anti-tank rifles secretly carried out a deep 60-kilometer march around the city of Fastov. At dawn on November 7, tanks with armored infantry suddenly burst into the city from the north and took the train station. Within 5 hours of street battles, the enemy was defeated, and the city of Fastov was completely cleared of German troops. When the city was captured, 64 anti-aircraft guns, 43 tanks, 16 echelons with military equipment, 40 warehouses with weapons and food, over 40 thousand tons of fuel and 5 steam locomotives were captured [3] . In his memoirs, Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Yakubovsky writes:
| I recall the case when a young replenishment arrived at the battalion of Kh. G. Mustafayev. Having accepted it, as it should, the major told about his impressions: “Yes, these are boys. They didn’t learn to shave. Sorry to let them into battle. They have a good emotional charge, but one is not enough. Let them wind up with powder smoke in the second tier for now. They grow into our being there, learn from experienced. Everything has its time. And in the battles for the Fasts they will participate. Then the time will come in time. " And it should be noted that his beardless "boys" showed themselves well in their first combat business. Officers like Mustafayev prepared them well for the test. Many young soldiers were then awarded government awards [1] . |
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944, Major Mustafayev Hidir Hasan oglu was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 2108).
After the war
After the war ended, Mustafaev continued to serve in the army and went into reserve only in 1954. Last years he lived and worked in Baku . Hidir Mustafayev died on May 21, 1975.
He is the author of the books “Tanklar Dyushmyan Uzyaryin” (1962), “Tankists Went” (1965).
Memory
One of the streets in the city of Baku was named in honor of Khidir Mustafayev. In 2005, a monument was erected to the hero in Kiev.
