Career

Bertold was born in Hanau , Hesse .

He played 322 matches in the Bundesliga , scoring 22 goals for Eintracht between 1982 and 1987. From 1987 to 1991, Thomas played in Italy : for the clubs Ellas Verona (1987-1989) and Roma (1989-1991). After that, he returned to Germany, and continued his career in Bavaria (1991-1993) and Stuttgart (1993-2000). Bertold spent his last season in the Turkish championship for Adanaspor , and finished it on January 15, 2001.

From 1985 to 1994, Bertold was called up to the German national team , for which he spent 62 matches. As part of the national team, he became a member of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and the 1988 European Championship in West Germany. As part of the West German national team, he became the 1990 world champion . His last national game was at the 1994 World Cup .
