Biography

Born on June 27 ( July 10 ), 1907 [3] in the village of Eskinskaya in the Olonets province (now Kargopol district of the Arkhangelsk region ) in a peasant family. Russian nationality. In 1924 he graduated from an incomplete secondary school in Kargopol . Then he studied at the Vologda Coincident School, after which in 1926 he was enlisted in the service of the team of one-year students. In 1927 he passed the exam for the reserve platoon commander. He worked as a social science teacher in one of the schools of Kargopol. He was elected secretary of the Kargopol district committee of the Komsomol (1927-1929), then head of the propaganda department of the Kargopol district committee of the CPSU (b) (1929-1930).

In the Red Army since 1930 . Before the war, he served as a district military commissar in Kotlas , Podosinovets , Belgorod .

Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941 as chief of staff of the 956th Infantry Regiment of the 299th Infantry Division. In October 1941 he was appointed commander of the 956th Infantry Regiment. The 299th Infantry Division was disbanded, and in December 1941 Pyotr Grigorievich was transferred to the headquarters of the 50th Army, and from there he was sent to the courses of regiment commanders at the MV Frunze Military Academy , which he graduated in May 1942. In the same month he was appointed commander of the 520th Infantry Regiment of the 167th Infantry Division.

The 520th Infantry Regiment ( 167th Infantry Division , 38th Army , 1st Ukrainian Front ) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Akulov P.G., November 3-5, 1943, was one of the first to enter the city of Kiev , where he participated in fierce battles in the central part of the city.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 10, 1944 for skillful command of the regiment, exemplary performance of combat missions of the command, and heroism and courage shown to this, Lieutenant Colonel Akulov Pyotr Grigoryevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 2451) .

After the war, he served as commander of a regiment of the 38th Army of the Carpathian Military District (June 1945 - October 1947), district commissar in Minsk (November 1947 - October 1950), regional commissar of the Molodechno Region of the Belorussian SSR (October 1950 - September 1951). At the end of the courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR in 1952 he was appointed to the post of chief of the Organizational Department of the headquarters of the Far Eastern Military District , from May 1956 to May 1960 he held a similar post in the Voronezh Military District . Since May 1960, Colonel Akulov P.G. retired. He lived in the city of Voronezh . He died on November 20, 1964 . He was buried at the Comintern cemetery in the city ​​of Voronezh.
