Description
Beetle 16–28 mm long. The color of the top is dark bronze or black-green, sometimes copper-green or blue, always with a metallic sheen. The lateral margins of the pronotum and elytra are usually brighter. The legs are long, black.
Range
Central Europe, Iran , the Caucasus , Central Asia, Ukraine , southern Russia, the Far East
Habitats
Deciduous forests (mainly oak forests), mostly broad-leaved. In typical habitats (floodplain oak forests) a very common species.
Biology
One generation a year is developing. A species with a spring-summer type of reproduction, wintering adults. Beetles are found from April to June. The highest activity was noted in May. Life expectancy of adults - up to several years. The adults wintered. The larva molts 2 times and approximately 24 days after hatching pupates in late summer. After 8-10 days, adult beetles appear that remain to winter in the soil. It feeds mainly on caterpillars.

It is included in the Red Book of Lithuania and the Republic of Belarus .
