The research beauty [1] ( lat. Calosoma investigator ) is a large beetle from the ground beetle family.

Content
Description
Beetle 16–27 mm long. The color is black, the upper side is often bronze or greenish. Between the rows of large golden pits on the elytra there are 5-7 irregular rows of small grains.
Range
Europe , Siberia , the Far East .
Habitats
In the north of the range inhabits various types of forests: floodplain, coniferous, deciduous. In the south of the range it is found on cultivated land. Also inhabits meadows and fields on sandy and sandy loamy soil.
Biology
Mesoxerophile. Active at night. In the afternoon hides in shelters. Beetles are found from May to October. Predator. It feeds mainly on caterpillars of butterflies - cocoonworms , scoop and moths . One-year generation.
