Mauro Fiore ( Italian: Mauro Fiore ; born November 15, 1964 , Marzi , Italy ) is an American cameraman of Italian origin, winner of the 2010 Oscar for his work on the film Avatar by James Cameron [1] . He was the first cameraman to receive an Oscar for a 3D movie.

Biography
Mauro Fiore was born on November 15, 1964 in the commune of Marzi, located in the Italian region of Calabria [2] . In 1971, his family moved to the United States .
In 1987, he graduated from Columbia College in Chicago . After that, he made a number of trips to Europe . At the initiative of his friend and classmate Janusz Kaminsky, they go to Hollywood . Together they created a series of films. In the second half of the 1990s, he collaborated with directors such as Rennie Harlin , Michael Bay and Antoine Fukua .
The most complex cameraman work was done on the movie " Avatar " by James Cameron . Filming was conducted from October 2007 to February 2008 at a studio in Wellington , New Zealand . Particular technical difficulties were associated with the use of a new system based on the analysis of facial capture images. For this, a special helmet with a miniature camera was installed on the actor’s head. She recorded facial expressions, muscle movements and even eyes with extraordinary accuracy. In addition, a virtual camera was first used, which made it possible to see computer images of real actors in the process of filming [3] . Together with the use of the 3D format and other achievements, the camera work of Mauro Fiore was recognized by the American Film Academy as the best for 2009.
