The descent from the pass towards Meiringen passes along the valley of the Reichenbach stream, through the Rosenlaui valley and past the Reichenbach waterfall .

A motorway has been laid across the pass; during the summer, there is a bus service between Meiringen and Grindelwald, and private transport is limited. The road through the pass in summer is popular with cycling tourists.

Not far from the saddle of the pass is a hotel with a restaurant, open during the summer.

Although the Große Scheidegg Pass is 99 meters lower than the Kleine Scheidegg Pass , in the past it was more significant for the residents of Grindelwald, as reflected in its name.
