The order of inheritance of the British presidential determines the succession of succession to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the other 15 states of the British Commonwealth .
Currently, the first in the succession of succession and heir to the throne is Charles, Prince of Wales , followed by his eldest son William, Duke of Cambridge , then - children of William: Prince George , Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis .

Inheritance Criteria
The inheritance of the British throne is defined in the Union Act of 1800 , which establishes the rules recorded in the Dispensation Act of 1701 and the Bill of Rights of 1689 . According to these standards, the succession of inheritance is determined by primogeniture with a male advantage over the female and religion. Also, according to the dispensation act of 1701, only descendants of duchess Sophia of Hanover , mother of the king of Great Britain George I can inherit the throne. On October 28, 2011, the order of succession was changed at the summit of the Commonwealth countries (for more, see the section “The advantage of seniority and male sex”) .
Legitimacy
Only those born in wedlock have rights to the British throne. Extramarital children are excluded from the order of succession; subsequent marriage of parents in this respect does not change. The law on royal marriages of 1772 requires the monarch's consent to marriages of the descendants of George II , except when these descendants belong to a different royal house. In the case of such a marriage without the consent of the monarch, the offspring of this marriage is formally considered illegitimate (sometimes it is interpreted as a morganatic marriage , which is not quite right legally). From the middle of the 19th century there were no cases of refusal (or marriage without notifying the monarch).
The advantage of seniority and male
The elder son of the previous challenger inherits the throne; in the absence of such a right, he is transferred to the eldest daughter. The inheritance line includes relatives of a person on the descending line, followed by his brothers and sisters. Sons are always counted before daughters, but this does not exclude daughters from the order of inheritance, in contrast to the inheritance of the French type ( salic law ). In contrast to the “half-saline” inheritance adopted earlier in Austria or the Russian Empire, a woman can inherit the throne in the case when there are other direct male dynasty lines (the daughter of an older brother takes precedence over the son of a younger brother).
In April 2011, the British government expressed the possibility of changing the law defining the order of inheritance, so that it matches the simple birthright, that is, without the advantage of a male, and also allows marriages of the heirs to the throne with Catholics. This will bring the law in line with modern social norms of gender equality and freedom of religion. The question of the succession of the throne was submitted for discussion in the UK.
At the summit of the Commonwealth countries, held in Australia, on October 28, 2011, the heads of state and government of the member countries of the organization approved changes in the rules of inheritance of the British throne. According to the new order of succession, the male heir loses his priority over the woman, and the order of inheritance is determined by simple seniority [1] . However, the new rules do not affect the order of succession among heirs already born at the time of their adoption.
In December 2012, changes in the rules of succession were legally secured by the parliaments of the states that approved them. British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said the government would submit this bill to the House of Commons in the very near future. [2]
Religion
By the time he comes to the throne, the heir must be a Protestant and be in Eucharistic communion with the Anglican Church . A person who is inherited by the British throne is excluded from the order of succession if Catholicism is accepted or married to a person of the Catholic religion (and this rule does not apply to other religions). At the already-mentioned Commonwealth Summit in Australia on October 28, 2011, the principle that the future British monarch could not marry with Catholics was also repealed.
The current order of succession
Regardless of the establishment of the future monarch, the succession of inheritance is used to determine the state advisers, as well as the regent, if necessary.

Notes:
- Lilac - monarchs;
- Green color - members of the House of Windsor (descendants of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in a straight male line, as well as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in a straight male line, with the exception of married women);
- Numbers - serial numbers in the line of succession to the throne;
- * - the person is excluded from the order of succession to the throne due to membership in the Catholic Church;
- Brothers and sisters are placed in the order of birth. In determining the order of succession to the throne, younger brothers have an advantage over older sisters. However, for those born after October 28, 2011, this rule no longer applies: for them, the order of succession is determined only by seniority (in practice, the only living change affected Tanya (33) and Senna (32) Lewis, and Rufus (36) and Lila ( 35) Gilman, who in pairs exchanged in order of inheritance).
