Paskevich, Fedor Ivanovich

His Grace Prince Fedor Ivanovich Paskevich-Erivansky (February 13, 1823 - June 16, 1903 , Gomel ) is a Russian lieutenant general , adjutant general (01.20.1856) from the Paskevich family, the only son and heir to Field Marshal I.F. Paskevich .

Military Service

For the merits of his father, on October 6, 1831 he was awarded the rank of ensign of the Erivan Regiment . After he transferred to the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment . Together with other progressively minded young officers he entered the circle of sixteen . Since 1839 - adjutant wing [1] , then - lieutenant of the Life Guards Preobrazhensky Regiment.

He took part in hostilities in the Caucasus . He distinguished himself in suppressing the revolution in Hungary in 1848-1849, and was awarded the rank of colonel . For the difference in the Crimean War on December 6 ( 18 ), 1854 , he was awarded the title of Major General with admission to the Suite [2] .

In 1852 he married Irina Ivanovna , the only sister of the future Caucasian governor Illarion Vorontsov-Dashkov . On January 20, 1856 he was appointed adjutant general. Subsequently, he was on indefinite leave "with the right to leave at any time abroad." In 1866 he retired.

Peaceful life

After leaving the service, he lived in the Gomel residence , which was inherited from his father.

During the preparation of the peasant reform, he participated in the development of the "General Regulation on Peasants Who Departed from Serfdom", was an expert member of the commission on peasant affairs. For work on the peasant reform of 1861 he was awarded a gold medal on the Alexander ribbon .

After the resignation of F.I. Paskevich began to further equip the estate. In 1875 he was appointed honorary justice of the peace in the Mogilev province. In 1888, by decree of Alexander III, he was awarded the title of honorary citizen of the city of Gomel.

In 1870, in Dobrush, he opened a woodworking enterprise, two years later transformed into a paper station.

He died on June 16, 1903. He was buried in Gomel in the tomb of the princes Paskevich . There were no children in marriage with his wife Irina Ivanovna (nee Countess Vorontsova-Dashkova).

Memory

  • In 2004, a monument to F. I. Paskevich as the founder of a paper mill was erected in the center of Dobrush .
  • The central Dobrush street (former K. Marx street) in 2004 was renamed the street of Prince F. I. Paskevich.
  • In 2015, a monument to F. I. Paskevich was unveiled in Gomel on the embankment of the Sozh River [3] .
