Rachele Mussolini ( Italian: Rachele Mussolini ; April 11, 1890 , Predappio - October 30, 1979 , Forlì ) is a kept woman , wife and widow of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini .

Biography

Rachele Gidi was born in Predappio , Romagna , Kingdom of Italy ( Italian: Regno d'Italia ), in a peasant family. Her father is Agostino Gidi, her mother is Anna Lombardi.

She worked as a servant. In 1910, Rachele began to draw closer to Benito Mussolini. In 1914, Mussolini married his first wife, Ide Dalzer. On December 17, 1915, Rachele Guidi and Benito Mussolini married at a civil ceremony in Trevillo , Lombardy . Rachele Mussolini gave birth to five children and ignored any of his relationships with his lovers. Rachele and Benito Mussolini had two daughters - Edda (1910-1995) and Anna Maria (1929-1968), and three sons - Vittorio (1916-1997), Bruno (1918-1941) and Romano (1927-2006).

During the reign of the fascist regime, Rachele Mussolini was portrayed as an exemplary fascist housewife and mother. She remained faithful to Mussolini to the end. But on April 28, 1945, she was not with Mussolini when he and his lover, Clara Petacci, were captured and killed by Italian partisans. Rachele Mussolini fled from Italy after the end of World War II, but was arrested in Switzerland by Italian partisans in 1945 . She was transferred to the Americans and released a few months later.

Rachele later had her own restaurant. She also received a pension from the Italian Republic for the rest of her life.
