A relative of the politician Roberto Maria Ortiz , President of the country ( 1938 - 1942 ).

Biography
Studied at the National Conservatory of Music and Recitation . She made her debut on stage in 1929 , played in the plays of Somerset Maugham , Terence Rettigen , Noel Coward , Agatha Christie . She made her debut on the screen in 1937 . Actively starred on television. Critics called her the Argentine Greta Garbo , she was fabulously popular in the 1940-1950s, postcards with her photographs diverged in huge print runs. In the 1970s, she performed several significant roles, showing her dramatic capabilities, far from fully realized in the previous movie.
Died of hemiplegia .

Interesting Facts
In the novel by Manuel Puig, Painted Sponges ( 1969 ), the Sword of Ortiz is mentioned by one of the heroes as the only worthy actress in Argentina. The following year, she appeared in the film adaptation of this novel by L. Torre Nilsson.
