The town of Ulukyshla lies in the valley between the Medetsiz and Bolkar mountains belonging to the system of the Taurus Mountains , and in the past was located at an important intersection between the Mediterranean Sea , Konya plain and central Anatolia . The mountains in the Ulukyshla area contain such minerals as gold, silver, lead, coal, limestone, which have been mined here for centuries. The climate here is dry and the vegetation is typical for the dry steppes of central Anatolia, including wheat here. Summer in Ulukyshla is warm and dry, and winter is cold and snowy.
History
Burials and other traces of human presence from the Hittite time and even earlier were found here. Later this area belonged to Phrygia and the Roman Empire . The tomb of Faustina , the wife of Emperor Marcus Aurelius , is preserved in the village of Bashmakchi, and the Baths of Cleopatra are preserved in Ciftehan. In Byzantine times there was an army base here. In Ottoman time, the city retained its value.
