Sports career
2008 Olympic Games
At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Alexander Kolobnev took part in the group race, the results of which took 4th place. Samuel Sanchez , David Rebellin and Fabian Cancellara finished in the top three. Later, the French anti-doping agency revealed the presence of erythropoietin CERA in the blood of athletes who participated in the 2008 Tour de France, including Rebellin. Because of this, the International Olympic Committee initiated a re-analysis of the doping samples of participants in the Beijing Olympics. On April 28, 2009, the results of the analysis of the first samples were published, the presence of prohibited substances was detected in 6 athletes, including cyclists Stefan Schumacher and David Rebellin [3] . Samples "B" confirmed a positive result.
On November 11, 2009, by the decision of the IOC, David Rebellin was disqualified and was deprived of the Olympic silver medal [4] . Silver of the Olympics passed to the Swiss Fabian Cancellara , and bronze to Alexander Kolobnev.
Doping scandal on the 2011 Tour de France
July 11 at the Tour de France doping test "A", taken from Alexander on July 6, gave a positive result for the presence in the body of a prohibited preparation hydrochlorothiazide [5] . The use of this drug does not incur disqualification or other sanctions from the International Cycling Union (UCI), however, in case of a positive result of the doping test “B”, Kolobnev will pay a fine to his team for the loss of image. He also voluntarily withdrew from the Tour and did not take part in the next competition [6] . July 20 published the results of the control doping test "B", taken after the fifth stage of the Tour de France, which confirmed the presence of hydrochlorothiazide in Alexander's organization. “Katyusha” pushed Alexander Kolobneva away from participating in any competitions as part of a team [7] . In order to establish all the circumstances of this case and make the appropriate decision, the Russian Cycling Federation initiated an investigation [8] .
On February 29, 2012, the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed charges of doping from Kolobnev and dismissed the UCI claim of disqualification [9] .
