Title
The name Zapopan comes from the Nahuatl language: the word "tzapopantl" means "among the trees of Zapota ."
History
Before the Spanish conquest, this territory was inhabited by peoples: sapotec , Nahua , Maya , Aztecs .
The territory was taken under Spanish control in 1530 by the conquistador Nuño de Guzmán , but the Spanish settlement was not organized until 1541 due to the war of the Spanish conquerors of Micheston with the Chichimecs . This year, within the framework of the encomjenda, Francisco de Bobadilla brought about 130 Indians from his lands to restore the population in the vicinity of Zapopan.
