Biography

Born on February 14, 1941, his father, Jan Rogolev, died in the war, and his mother, Cilicia, was raised by Stanislav alone. He was convicted four times, once for rape . In the colony he collaborated with the administration, after his release he worked as a police informant. The writer Alexander Chekhlov called Rogolev the agent of the head of the criminal investigation department, Alois Vaznis [1] , the lawyer Andris Grutups , the secret agent of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Latvian SSR, General Anrijs Kavalieris [2] . But the versions about the maniac’s connections with the police leadership, as well as the version that the police leadership blocked him, have no evidence [3] .

Crimes

Shock is still too soft a word to describe the state in which Latvia was in the early 80's. Schoolgirls went to classes in close-knit groups, husbands met wives from late trains, reinforced police detachments were on duty everywhere. In each gateway, the law-abiding citizens who were terribly frightened seemed to have the MOST Ruthless and BLOODY MANNIC of LATVIA of the Soviet period - Stanislav Rogolev.

Arrest and Execution

Wanted Rogolev Stanislav Ivanovich, born in 1941 Height 180 cm, tight, athletic physique, weight 100 kg; hair is dark, wavy.
From case materials

For the capture of the maniac, an operational investigative group was created. There is a version that Rogolev, as a police informant, was aware of the progress of the investigation, and therefore remained elusive for a long time. After the murder in April 1982, forensic experts took fingerprints from all the bottles that were on the tables in the Juras Perle restaurant, resulting in Rogolev’s fingerprint. The criminal was put on the wanted list. His accomplice Aldis Svare confessed to the Dubulti police station in Jurmala and gave out Rogolev’s possible whereabouts in Ulbrok. According to unofficial information, the police received an unspoken order not to take the maniac alive [5] .

Rogolev was detained by two young police officers who did not know about the unofficial order. Rogolev tried to escape while being detained, but after two shots in the air he lay down on the ground. Soon, crime instruments and material evidence were found in his apartment.

After his arrest, Rogolev spoke in detail about his crimes. Some of his crimes were not known to the police and prosecutors. In others, the death of the victims of a maniac was declared suicide or an accident. Also, the maniac told about the murder for which three people had already been convicted [6] . The investigation in the case of Rogolev was conducted by the investigator for special cases of the prosecutor's office of the Latvian SSR, Janis Skrastins .

Psychiatric examination led by Professor Shostakovich of the Institute. Serbian recognized Rogolev sane. The criminal’s lawyer tried to appeal this decision: he claimed that during the war Rogolev and his mother got bombed and were covered with earth, and excavated only a few hours later; Rogolev suffered from hallucinations , drank seduxen and other potent drugs, which, together with alcohol, could cause increased aggressiveness; in places of detention he was abused because he was convicted of rape.

Rogolev was sentenced to death and shot in Leningrad on June 19, 1984 [2] [7] .

If you believe the police legend, after awarding him capital punishment, Stanislav Rogolev behaved extremely apathetic and was completely indifferent to everything that was happening around. But at the airport, when he was taken to the place of punishment in Leningrad, already sentenced, when he saw a beautiful girl, he suddenly perked up and said: “If I could have another one, then ... shoot.”
