David Lloyd, Gareth

He first appeared on the stage in the role of a robot in a school production, and as a teenager he joined the troupe of the Gwent Young People's Theater in Abergavenny, and later the troupe of the Dolman Youth Theater in Newport , where he worked at the same time with actor Matthew Vuyatt and singer Nia Lynn . There he participated in several productions, and in the " Macbeth ", " Three Penny Opera " and "King Henry V" played the main roles. When former Labor leader Neil Kinnock saw young Gareth in a performance at Monmouth Castle, he sent him £ 250 to pursue an acting career.

During his studies at the College, Gwent Gareth participated in various local productions at the Dolman Theater in Newport and the Sherman Theater in Cardiff .

Before moving to Reading to continue his acting studies at The Rep College, Gareth had an internship at the National Youth Theater. Among others, he played the role of Sebastian in the production of Twelfth Night , and also took part in the television shows Absolute Power, Catastrophe, Rosemary & Thyme and Purely English Killing .

Gareth returned to Wales for the filming of the TV series Torchwood , where he played the role of Ianto Jones . The Digital Spy television website awarded this character a cult icon. In addition to the series “ Torchwood ”, Ianto Jones appeared in two episodes of “ Doctor Who ” - “The Stolen Earth” and “Journey's End”. It is noteworthy that in 2004 in the comedy / drama "Mine All Mine", written by the creator of the series " Torchwood " Russell T. Davis, Gareth played a character named Yanto Jones ^[1] .

Some facts

• In addition to acting, Gareth for one year as a volunteer studied philosophy and psychology courses at the Open University.
• Gareth recorded an audiobook of Lovecraft's short stories entitled Cthulhu and Other Stories.
• Gareth is the leader and vocalist of the band Blue Gillespie (formerly known as “A Breath of Blue Fire”), playing progressive metal. First EP: "Cave Country" (December 2008), second EP: "Cave Country Part 2" (August 2009), debut album: "Synesthesia" (May 2010), second album "Seven Rages of Man" (May 2012).
• Gareth admires the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and even played it in one of his very first productions.
• Gareth voiced Solas, a character in Dragon Age Inquisition.

Personal life

Married to Gemma James since 2010. The couple has a daughter, Lily Christina Lloyd (born June 4, 2012) and son Eli Andrew Lloyd (born August 10, 2014).
