Brameya Christophe [1] ( lat. Brahmaea christophi ) is a species of nocturnal butterflies from the Bramei family . Relict endemic species . A number of scientists are inclined to consider it not as an independent species, but as a subspecies of Brahmaea ledereri .

The specific name is given in honor of Hugo Theodor Christoph (Hugo Theodor Christoph, in Russia Hugo Fedorovich Christof, 1831-1894) - German and Russian entomologist , member of the Russian Entomological Society since 1861.

Description
Fore wing length 58 - 62 mm. Wingspan 110-125 mm, sometimes up to 160 mm. The wings are rounded, wide. The main background of the wings is black and brown. The pattern on the wings is represented by alternating wavy light and dark lines and a meandering marginal border.
Range
Azerbaijan , Talish , Iran .
Biology
It occurs in the coastal humid subtropical relict forest, in the foothills and mountains at an altitude of up to 1000 meters above sea level. Butterfly years take place in April - early May. It gives one generation per year. Caterpillar stage in June - July. The feed plant of caterpillars is ash , privet , lilac . A wintering doll in the soil.

Extremely small species.
