The letters -CC- in the name of the model are deciphered as “comfort coupe” ( German Comfort-Coupé ), which gravitates towards a more “flattened”, sporty body shape of the model. However, this model was conceived by the Volkswagen leadership not as a modification of the usual Passat, but as a car of another, more comfortable class - to fill the market niche between the classic Passat and the Phaeton model .
For the first time Passat CC was presented at the Detroit Auto Show in 2008. In the same year, production began in Europe , and six months later in the United States .

Restyling
In January 2012, the updated Passat CC was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show . The grille, interior and headlights have been updated. The new version of the car went on sale in Russia on April 21, 2012.

Dynamic Black
In June 2015, Volkswagen introduced a special version of the CC, which received the prefix Dynamic Black in the title [1] . Among the differences between this version and regular CC, the following can be distinguished.

- Removed chrome stripes on the doors and rear bumper
