McGill, Bruce

Bruce Travis McGill ( born Bruce Travis McGill ; July 11, 1950 , San Antonio ) is an American actor . Most famous for his work with director Michael Mann in the films “ His Man ” (1999), “ Ali ” (2001) and “ Accessory ” (2004).

Television roles of Bruce McGill include Jack Dalton in McGyver (1985-1992) and Detective Vince Korsak's Rizzoli and Isles (2010-2016).

He also had the constant roles of Captain Braxton in Star Trek Voyager (1999) and the voice acting of Lloyd Waterman at the Cleveland Show (2012-2014). He played Ralph Hook in Billy Crystal's film 61: A History of Record (2001).

During the 2016 presidential election, McGill voiced a series of commercials for Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

Early years

McGill was born in San Antonio, Texas , into the family of artist Adriel Rose (née Jacobs) and Woodrow Wilson McGill, a real estate and insurance agent. [4] He graduated from high school. Douglas MacArthur in northeastern San Antonio and University of Texas at Austin majoring in drama .

He began his acting career in 1977.

McGill starred in many films, perhaps his most famous role was in the comedy The Menagerie [5] of 1978, the role that McGill was desperately trying to get at that time, recalling his days as a young unemployed actor sitting in the office of a casting office in New York.

McGill is the favorite of director Michael Mann , who worked with him on " Accessory ," "Ali," and " My Man ." He also starred in four HBO television films, first playing the Yankees coach, Ralph Hook, nicknamed Major, in Billy Crystal 61: A Record Story in 2001, then diplomat George Ball in the 2002 Way to War film; journalist Peter Arnett in Live from Baghdad later that year; and most recently, Mack Stipanovich in the movie " Counting ", 2008, on the 2000 presidential election in Florida .

From 1986 to 1992 he played in the series " Secret Agent McGyver " [6] .

In 1987, he played Ernest Hemingway in the television movie " Waiting for the Moon ."

In 2008, in the film " Bush " played George Tenet .

In 2013, he was nominated for the Gold Derby Awards in the category "Best Acting Ensemble" for his role as Edwin Stanton in the film " Lincoln " [7] .

In 2019, he received an award at the Pasadena International Film Festival in the category "Best Actor" for his role in the film "Waiting Game" [8] .

During his career, he starred in more than 150 films and series. He voiced the characters of several cartoons [9] .

He often appeared as a guest star in McGyver , as the comedic best friend of the main character, soldier of fortune / pilot Jack Dalton. Repeating this role, McGill often plays friends of the protagonist in film and television. In 1994, he appeared with Jay Leno in the Emmy- nominated TV series Big Repair [10] . He played Willard Cates in the short series Wolf Lake . He was supposed to join the cast of "Bionic Woman" in the fall of 2007 [11] . He also voiced Agent Buford in the video game Mercenaries. In 2009, McGill appeared in Law & Order: Special Corps as Gordon Harrison.
